Faces

I just love beading the faces! I have always liked faces and doing this one has made me only want to do more. I have picked out more faces and will be beading them soon.
The next face looks like a Fairy and I can't wait to get started with her. I think I will be starting tomorrow night.
Love Kandra

  1. This is so lovely Kandra! Is it a pin? I love the face you used and the colors you chose are perfet! Nice touch of green leaves too. Very pretty!

  2. This is really exceptional, Kandra! The way you have echoed the colors and design elememts in the face with your beading, plus the texture, is perfect. The leafy kinky fringe and the three flowers and leaves at the upper right are such good accents for this piece.

I'm very curious about the face. Where did you get it and what does it mean (if anything) to you? I'll check back to see if you've answered.

    Bravo!!! Robin A.

  4. Hi Tracey,
It's not a pin I'm going to fame it. My pages are 4 1/4x3 1/2 inches. I could do a wall hanging but I have been thinking about a series of faces. I was in the bead zone when I was making her and it just all feel into place. Thank you, Kandra

  5. Hi Robin,
I feel honored you like my piece, thank you. I have been forcing myself to bead and when I do that it shows. Doing the face is the first page that I really enjoyed, and it shows.
I have always liked faces because they tell so much about a person. When I was beading her I had a story about her in my head and as I was placing the beads she would come alive. If I tried to do something that was forced on her I would have to take it out because she didn't like it. I know that sounds strange but my pieces talk to me when I'm in the zone. I call it the bead zone, it's almost like mediation.
The faces come from Diane Briegleb she lives in Oregon and is as beautiful as her faces. I have some of them on my website under Handmade Ceramic Faces and Flat Pieces. Diane only wholesales so email me and I will give you her number.

  6. Hi Kathy,
Thank you so much for the comment. It's so funny because when I look at other peoples work I like their work better than mine.

  10. I found your website (www.kandrasbeads.com) and have had a great time looking at all the wonderful seed beads you carry! My goodness, when do you find time to bead? Your website and processing orders must demand a lot of your time and attention. Thanks for the telling us about the face. It is so unusual and the ceramic colors so beautiful... then YOU came along and turned an already beautiful face into a masterpiece. I hope you'll consider entering it in a competition.

  12. Hi Robin,
I don't sleep a lot. That is why I was glad to sell my shop and just have the online shop, I have more time now.
What competition is there to enter? All of these years I have never entered anything, I have always just beaded for me.
    Thank you, Kandra

  14. Thanks, kandra...that works just fine although if you want to add an actual link to your blog you would want to go to where it says "customize" at the top of your blog and then go to "layout", then to the "add a gadget" list and click on "edit" on the "links" button.
Where it says "new site URL", you put in the address of your website and then go to "new site name" and name it (Kandra's Beads in your case) and then hit the "add link", and then "save" button and that should do it.
If you have any problems just let me know and I'll see if we can't figure it out together.

  15. Hi..I'm new to art and beading...
This is the most beautiful piece, You said you enjoyed it and it shows. the bit about her telling you what she liked...I so understand that because it shows in the work. She loves what you have done! The rich, deep colours are so quiet and peaceful but deep with knowledge and passion. I think you should do more if you are drawn to it. Stunning!
